The Ibero-American Initiative \u201cNo Baby with Chagas,\u201d promoted by the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB), presents a new Guide to strategies for equitable health care. This practical resource is designed to strengthen the capacities of local health teams from an equity, gender, interculturality, and human rights perspective.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>

The document was developed with specialized technical support from the Social Research and Practices Laboratory (LAPIS) and technical contributions from Fundaci\u00f3n Mundo Sano, in its role as the Initiative’s technical unit.<\/p>\n

Why a Guide on Health Equity?<\/strong><\/p>\n

While effective tools exist for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of Chagas disease, especially regarding vertical transmission, structural, social, and cultural barriers persist, limiting timely and quality access to health services. These barriers disproportionately affect women, diverse populations, migrants, indigenous communities, and other vulnerable groups.<\/p>\n

Aimed at the entire health care team, the guide starts from the premise that health equity is not an abstract concept but a daily practice<\/strong> built in every consultation, every institutional decision, and every connection with communities.<\/p>\n

A Contribution to the Goal of Eliminating Congenital Chagas<\/strong><\/p>\n

This guide is part of the ongoing work by the Ibero-American Initiative to eliminate mother-to-child transmission of Chagas in the region, strengthening health systems and promoting more just, inclusive, and people-centered care.<\/p>\n

Because advancing towards the elimination of congenital Chagas requires not only biomedical tools but also care practices that recognize and address the inequalities affecting communities.<\/p>\n
